Description

This Slow Cooker Honey BBQ Beef Brisket is a tender, flavorful dish perfect for hearty family meals. The brisket is seasoned with a savory rub, then slow-cooked in a rich honey BBQ sauce made from ketchup, molasses, honey, and spices. The sauce is thickened separately for a perfect consistency and poured back over the shredded beef, creating a delicious, melt-in-your-mouth main course.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Brisket

  • 1 medium-large beef brisket (about 5 pounds)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Honey BBQ Sauce

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ⅓ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Slow Cooker and Sauce: Lightly grease your slow cooker and place the beef brisket inside. In a small bowl, whisk together all the honey BBQ sauce ingredients except the cold water and cornstarch; set this sauce aside for later use.
  2. Season the Brisket: Combine the garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper into a seasoning rub. Rub this mixture all over the brisket thoroughly to ensure it’s well coated.
  3. Cook the Brisket: Pour the prepared honey BBQ sauce over the seasoned brisket in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on the low setting for 10 hours, allowing the meat to become tender and absorb rich flavors.
  4. Thicken the Sauce: Once cooking is complete, carefully pour the cooking liquid from the slow cooker into a large saucepan. Bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. In a small bowl, stir the cornstarch into the cold water until dissolved, then pour the mixture into the boiling liquid. Reduce heat to medium-low and stir continuously until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
  5. Shred and Serve: Using two forks, shred the cooked beef brisket directly in the slow cooker. Pour the thickened sauce back over the shredded beef, stir well to coat evenly, and serve hot for a delicious meal.

Notes

  • The honey BBQ sauce can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator until ready to use to save time.
  • For even more tender meat, ensure the brisket cooks undisturbed on low heat for the full 10 hours.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste before cooking if you prefer a spicier or sweeter sauce.
  • Leftover brisket makes great sandwiches or tacos the next day.
