Description

This Shamrock Shake Copycat recipe recreates the classic green minty milkshake with vanilla ice cream, peppermint extract, and a touch of green food coloring, topped with whipped cream and a cherry for a festive St. Patrick’s Day treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Shake Ingredients

  • 4 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 3-4 drops green food coloring

Garnish

  • Whipped cream for garnish
  • Cherry for garnish
  • Honey for glass rim
  • Green sanding sugar for glass rim

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass: If you want to decorate your glass, pour some honey onto a plate and green sanding sugar onto another plate. Dip the rim of the glass into the honey, then immediately into the green sugar to create a decorative rim. Set the glass aside.
  2. Blend the Shake: Add the vanilla ice cream, milk, peppermint extract, and green food coloring into a blender. Blend all ingredients until smooth and evenly combined.
  3. Serve and Garnish: Pour the milkshake mixture into the prepared glasses. Top each milkshake with whipped cream and place a cherry on top for garnish.

Notes

  • Taste test the shake before pouring to adjust the peppermint extract carefully, as it is a strong flavor. Start with 1/4 teaspoon and increase if desired.
  • Add green food coloring gradually to achieve your preferred shade; regular food coloring works best, while gel requires less.
  • For a lighter version without ice cream, use 2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk, one 3.4-ounce box of vanilla pudding mix, 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract, 3 drops green food coloring, and 2-3 cups ice. Blend until smooth.
