Main Ingredients
- 24 Peanut Butter Oreo Cookies
- 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips (170 grams)
- 96 Pretzel Sticks, halved
- 24 Reese’s Pieces Candies, halved
Instructions
- Prepare the Oreos: Place the 24 Peanut Butter Oreo Cookies on a large, parchment-lined baking sheet to create the base for your spiders.
- Melt the Chocolate: Pour 1 cup of dark chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 45 seconds. Stir well, then continue reheating in 10-15 second increments until fully melted and smooth.
- Attach Spider Legs: Dip the ends of four pretzel stick halves in the melted chocolate and gently press them into one side of an Oreo. Repeat on the other side with four more pretzel stick halves to create eight legs.
- Create the Spider Eyes: Use a toothpick to spread melted chocolate onto the cut side of two Reese’s Pieces halves and place them, cut side down, onto the top of each Oreo to form the eyes. Repeat for all spiders.
- Set the Legs: Allow the legs to firmly set into the Oreos. If needed, refrigerate the spiders for 10-15 minutes to harden the chocolate legs.
- Coat the Pretzel Feet: Re-melt chocolate if it has hardened. Dip the bottom of the pretzel legs into the melted chocolate to create spider feet, then place the spiders back on the baking sheet.
- Cool and Set: Let the Oreo spiders cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes or chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes until the chocolate is fully set.
Notes
- You can substitute peanut butter Oreos with regular Oreos if preferred.
- Use any chocolate chips for melting, but dark chocolate provides a rich flavor and melts nicely.
- Refrigerate if your kitchen is warm to help the chocolate set faster.
- Handle the pretzel legs gently to avoid breaking before the chocolate sets.
- These spiders make excellent festive treats for Halloween parties and are fun to make with kids.
