  • 2 orange slices
  • 2 lemon slices
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 8-10 whole cloves
  • 3 whole star anise
  • 4 tbsp maple syrup
  • 6 oz bourbon (about 1 oz per serving)
  • Extra cinnamon sticks and star anise for garnish


Instructions

  1. Heat cider: In a saucepan, place the apple cider over medium high heat and add orange and lemon slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise. Bring the cider to a simmer then reduce heat.
  2. Simmer and steep: Let the cider gently steep on low heat for about 30 minutes to infuse the spices and citrus flavors.
  3. Add sweetness and strain: Stir in maple syrup to taste and remove the citrus slices and spices from the cider.
  4. Serve with bourbon: Pour 1 oz of bourbon into each mug and top with hot apple cider. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and star anise if desired, then serve warm.
