- 8-10 whole cloves
- 3 whole star anise
- 4 tbsp maple syrup
- 6 oz bourbon (about 1 oz per serving)

- Simmer and steep: Let the cider gently steep on low heat for about 30 minutes to infuse the spices and citrus flavors.
- Add sweetness and strain: Stir in maple syrup to taste and remove the citrus slices and spices from the cider.
- Serve with bourbon: Pour 1 oz of bourbon into each mug and top with hot apple cider. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and star anise if desired, then serve warm.
Notes

- Use fresh spices for the best flavor infusion.
- Can be made without bourbon for a non-alcoholic version.
- Keep on low heat to avoid boiling off the alcohol during serving.
- Double the recipe for larger gatherings.
