Description

A light and refreshing Mandarin Orange Salad made with cool whip, sour cream, orange-flavored gelatin, mandarin oranges, and mini marshmallows. Perfect for a quick, sweet side dish or dessert that requires no cooking.

Ingredients

Scale

Salad Ingredients

  • 10 ounces Cool Whip, thawed (1 container)
  • 1 cup Sour cream
  • 3 ounces Orange-flavored gelatin (1 package)
  • 15 ounces Mandarin oranges, well drained (1 can)
  • 1 cup Mini marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Mix base ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed Cool Whip and sour cream. Stir until smooth and well blended.
  2. Add gelatin: Sprinkle the orange-flavored gelatin over the mixture and stir thoroughly until completely dissolved and combined.
  3. Fold in fruit and marshmallows: Gently fold the well-drained mandarin oranges and mini marshmallows into the mixture to keep the texture light and airy.
  4. Chill before serving: Transfer the salad to a serving bowl and cover tightly. Refrigerate for up to 48 hours to allow flavors to meld and the gelatin to set. Stir well before serving.

Notes

  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator, tightly covered, for up to 2 days to maintain freshness.
  • Make sure to drain the mandarin oranges well to avoid excess liquid which can dilute the salad.
  • For a lighter version, use low-fat sour cream and reduced-fat Cool Whip.
  • This salad is best served chilled and can be prepared a few hours in advance.
