Description

A decadent and festive trifle combining rich chocolate brownies, creamy chocolate pudding, fluffy whipped cream, and chopped Halloween candy for a layered dessert perfect for using up leftover Halloween treats.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Layer

  • 1 batch brownie recipe baked, 9×13 inch pan (boxed mix is fine)

Pudding Layer

  • 1 box (99-120 grams) instant chocolate pudding

Whipped Cream Layer

  • 3 cups whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar

Topping

  • 3 cups chopped Halloween chocolate bars and candy

Instructions

  1. Slice Brownies: Slice the entire 9×13 inch brownie pan into thirds so you have three portions, then chop one portion for each layer.
  2. Prepare Pudding: Make the instant chocolate pudding according to the package directions, usually involving mixing the pudding powder with milk and allowing it to set.
  3. Whip Cream: In a mixer, whip the 3 cups of whipping cream with 1 tablespoon of white sugar until the whipped cream is light and fluffy and holds soft peaks.
  4. Layer Trifle: Start assembling the trifle by placing one third of the chopped brownies as the first layer. Spread one cup of chocolate pudding evenly over the brownies, followed by one cup of whipped cream, then one cup of chopped Halloween candy.
  5. Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering twice more using the remaining brownie pieces, pudding, whipped cream, and candy, ending with a candy layer on top.
  6. Finish Top Layer: Use the leftover one cup of whipped cream to cover the top of the trifle and garnish with additional chopped Halloween chocolate bars as desired.
  7. Chill: Refrigerate the assembled trifle for at least 6 hours to allow flavors to meld and textures to soften. For a very soft texture, refrigerate overnight. If you prefer some chewiness, a 3-hour chill is sufficient.

Notes

  • Use a boxed brownie mix or homemade brownies based on your preference.
  • You can substitute the instant pudding mix with homemade chocolate pudding if preferred.
  • Whipping the cream to soft peaks helps maintain the light texture in the trifle layers.
  • Feel free to customize the candy topping with your favorite Halloween chocolates or other candies.
  • For easier layering, chop the brownies and candy into bite-sized pieces.
  • Make sure to refrigerate for the recommended time to enhance flavor and texture.
