Description

This Halloween Spider Web 7 Layer Dip is a festive and fun appetizer perfect for spooky celebrations. Layers of seasoned refried beans, creamy guacamole, sour cream spider web design, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, black olives, and green onions come together in a vibrant and tasty dip served with warm tortilla chips.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Layer

  • 48 oz refried beans (three 16oz cans)
  • 1/4 cup taco seasoning

Middle Layer

  • 3 cups guacamole

Spider Web and Toppings

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 4 green onions, chopped

Serving

  • Warm tortilla chips
  • Plastic spider (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Mix Bean Layer: In a medium bowl, combine the refried beans and taco seasoning thoroughly.
  2. Spread Beans: Evenly spread the seasoned refried beans into a single layer at the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. Add Guacamole Layer: Spread the 3 cups of guacamole in an even layer over the refried beans.
  4. Create Spider Web: Using a squeeze bottle, piping bag, or a Ziploc bag with a small cut tip, pipe two perpendicular lines of sour cream across the guacamole. Then divide each of the four sections two more times resulting in 16 sections total. Pipe two small half circles across each section to form the outer and inner arcs of a spider web design.
  5. Add Toppings: Arrange the diced tomato, shredded cheese, sliced black olives, and chopped green onions evenly around the perimeter of the dip.
  6. Decorate: Place a plastic spider in the center of the web for a spooky Halloween touch.
  7. Serve: Serve immediately with warm tortilla chips on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Use refrigerated or freshly made guacamole for best flavor and texture.
  • If you don’t have a piping bag, a sandwich bag with a small corner cut works well for piping sour cream.
  • For a spicier dip, add a little hot sauce to the refried beans before spreading.
  • You can substitute black olives with sliced jalapeños for extra heat.
  • Make sure to serve chilled or at room temperature so the layering holds well.
