Description

These Halloween Spider Cupcakes are a spooky and fun treat perfect for your Halloween party. Featuring rich chocolate cupcakes topped with black chocolate frosting and decorated with spiderweb designs made from white frosting, these cupcakes are finished with toy spider rings for an eerie touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Cupcakes

  • 24 baked chocolate cupcakes (preferably in black cupcake liners)

Frosting and Decoration

  • 3 cups chocolate frosting
  • 1 cup white frosting
  • Black food coloring
  • 24 toy spider rings

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cupcakes: Fill cupcake liners a little less than two-thirds full with batter to ensure the cupcakes bake with flat tops. Bake and allow cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.
  2. Color and Frost: Mix black food coloring into the chocolate frosting until you achieve a deep black color. Frost a thin layer of the black frosting evenly on the tops of the cooled cupcakes.
  3. Create Spider Eyes: Using a small frosting tip or a ziplock bag with a corner cut, pipe two white circles on each cupcake to resemble spider eyes. Add a small dot in the center of each white circle for pupils using the white frosting.
  4. Make Spiderweb: With a toothpick, starting at the pupil dot, pull straight lines outward toward the edge of the cupcake. Repeat this around the cupcake to create a spiderweb effect.
  5. Decorate with Spiders: Place a toy spider ring on top of each cupcake as the finishing touch.

Notes

  • Use black cupcake liners to enhance the spooky appearance.
  • If you don’t have black food coloring, mix blue and green with a bit of red to approximate black.
  • For easier piping, warm frosting slightly if too stiff.
  • Toy spider rings should be clean and safe for food contact; consider wrapping the ring in plastic first.
  • Store cupcakes in a cool place to keep frosting firm.
