Description

Delight in these festive Halloween Donuts that combine rich cocoa flavors with a sweet glaze and colorful sprinkles. Perfect for celebrations, these baked treats are easy to make and irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

Scale

Donut Batter

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk

Glaze & Decorations

  • 2 cups confectioner’s sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • ¼ cup Halloween sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°. Spray two 6-cup donut pans or one 12-cup donut pan with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, stir together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder until evenly combined.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar and oil until fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and continue beating until well mixed.
  4. Combine Batter: Pour the flour mixture and milk into the wet ingredients. Fold gently with a spatula until just combined to avoid overmixing.
  5. Fill Donut Pans: Spoon about 3 tablespoons of batter into each donut cup, filling them evenly without overflowing.
  6. Bake Donuts: Place the pans in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean. Remove and let cool on a wire rack.
  7. Prepare Glaze: While donuts cool, stir confectioner’s sugar and milk in a small bowl until smooth and thick.
  8. Glaze Donuts: Dip the tops of cooled donuts into the glaze. Place them on parchment paper to catch drips.
  9. Add Sprinkles: Immediately sprinkle Halloween themed sprinkles on the glazed donuts before the glaze sets.
  10. Set and Serve: Let the donuts rest at room temperature until the glaze is fully set. Serve and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs for better batter mixing.
  • Be careful not to overmix the batter to keep donuts light and fluffy.
  • Donuts are best served the same day but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Substitute milk with any plant-based milk to make it dairy-free.
  • For a richer glaze, add a teaspoon of melted butter or vanilla extract.
