Ingredients
Scale
Donut Batter
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- ¾ cup sugar
- ½ cup oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup milk
Glaze & Decorations
- 2 cups confectioner’s sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk
- ¼ cup Halloween sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°. Spray two 6-cup donut pans or one 12-cup donut pan with cooking spray and set aside.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, stir together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder until evenly combined.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar and oil until fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and continue beating until well mixed.
- Combine Batter: Pour the flour mixture and milk into the wet ingredients. Fold gently with a spatula until just combined to avoid overmixing.
- Fill Donut Pans: Spoon about 3 tablespoons of batter into each donut cup, filling them evenly without overflowing.
- Bake Donuts: Place the pans in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean. Remove and let cool on a wire rack.
- Prepare Glaze: While donuts cool, stir confectioner’s sugar and milk in a small bowl until smooth and thick.
- Glaze Donuts: Dip the tops of cooled donuts into the glaze. Place them on parchment paper to catch drips.
- Add Sprinkles: Immediately sprinkle Halloween themed sprinkles on the glazed donuts before the glaze sets.
- Set and Serve: Let the donuts rest at room temperature until the glaze is fully set. Serve and enjoy.
Notes
- Use room temperature eggs for better batter mixing.
- Be careful not to overmix the batter to keep donuts light and fluffy.
- Donuts are best served the same day but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- Substitute milk with any plant-based milk to make it dairy-free.
- For a richer glaze, add a teaspoon of melted butter or vanilla extract.
