Instructions
- Prep Bang Bang Sauce: Add all of the bang bang sauce ingredients to a small bowl. Whisk well to combine. Adjust flavor by adding more spice with extra sriracha or cutting it a bit with more honey or sweet chili sauce. Chill until ready to serve.
- Prepare the Ground Turkey Mixture: Over medium-high heat, add a drizzle of sesame oil to a large skillet. When the oil is glistening, add the ground turkey and break into smaller pieces. Cook until the turkey is browned and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. Then shift heat to medium-low and add in garlic, ginger, smoked paprika, onion powder, soy sauce, sriracha, chicken broth, honey, black pepper, and sea salt, stirring to combine.
- Simmer and Thicken: Allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. To thicken the mixture, sprinkle the corn starch over the mixture and stir well. Optionally, stir in about 2 tablespoons of the bang bang sauce into the meat mixture just before serving to enhance flavor.
- Assemble Rice Bowls: Layer bowls with cooked rice and your choice of shredded carrots, sliced cucumbers, shelled edamame, pickled onions, avocado, shredded cabbage, or any preferred veggies. Spoon the ground turkey mixture over the rice and drizzle generously with bang bang sauce. Garnish with sliced green onion and sesame seeds for added flavor and texture.
Notes
- Store leftovers separately in airtight containers. The turkey mixture keeps in the refrigerator for 3-4 days, and the bang bang sauce for up to a week.
- You can freeze the turkey mixture for about 3 months. For best results, toss the turkey with bang bang sauce before freezing.
- If the ground turkey mixture becomes dry, add extra soy sauce or chicken broth to maintain moisture as the pan heat can reduce liquids quickly.
- Feel free to customize the rice bowl toppings with your favorite fresh or pickled vegetables.
- Adjust the heat of the bang bang sauce by varying the amount of sriracha according to your preference.
