Description
A classic grilled cheese sandwich featuring melted cheddar or your favorite cheese between crispy buttered bread slices, cooked to golden perfection on the stovetop for a quick and delicious meal.
Ingredients
Scale
Bread
- 2 slices bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
Cheese
- 3 slices cheese (cheddar, American, or your favorite melting cheese)
Butter
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions
- Butter the Bread: Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice to ensure a golden, crispy exterior when cooked.
- Heat the Pan: Place a skillet or non-stick pan over medium heat and let it warm up for a minute.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Put one slice of bread, buttered side down, onto the hot skillet. Layer the cheese slices evenly on top of the bread.
- Add Top Bread Slice: Place the second slice of bread on top of the cheese with the buttered side facing up to help crisp the outside.
- Cook the Sandwich: Cook for 3 minutes or until the bottom slice becomes golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is melted.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it rest for 1 minute before slicing to allow the cheese to set slightly. Serve immediately and enjoy.
Notes
- For extra crispy bread, use mayonnaise instead of butter on the outside of the slices.
- Try mixing different cheeses like cheddar, mozzarella, and gouda for a richer flavor.
- Cook on low-medium heat to ensure the cheese melts fully without burning the bread.
- Add extras like cooked bacon, sliced tomatoes, or caramelized onions for a gourmet twist.
