Description

Five Minute Bourbon Balls are quick and easy no-bake treats made with chocolate, honey, ground wafers, nuts, and bourbon whiskey. They are smooth, rich, and perfect for sharing or gifting during the holidays or anytime you crave a boozy dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons honey plus more if needed
  • 1 1/2 cups finely ground vanilla wafer crumbs or shortbread crumbs
  • 1 1/2 cups finely ground walnuts or ground pecans
  • 3-4 tablespoons bourbon whiskey such as Wild Turkey or Jim Beam

Instructions

  1. Reserve Nuts: Pour 1/2 cup of the ground walnuts into a small bowl and set aside for later use as a coating.
  2. Melt Chocolate and Honey: Mix chocolate chips and honey in a 1 1/2 quart microwaveable bowl. Heat in the microwave at full power for 1-2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Stir in the ground vanilla wafers, ground walnuts, and bourbon whiskey into the melted chocolate mixture until thick and well combined.
  4. Form Balls: Scoop out the mixture by level tablespoons and roll into balls using your hands.
  5. Coat and Store: Roll each ball in the reserved 1/2 cup ground walnuts to coat. Store tightly in a covered container. Let flavor develop for four days before serving. Properly stored, they will keep up to 4 weeks.

Notes

  • If you don’t have a microwave, melt the chocolate and honey over medium-low heat in a saucepan, stirring constantly, though this will take longer.
  • If the mixture seems too dry, add a splash more bourbon to help it bind.
  • If the mixture is too crumbly to form balls, add an additional tablespoon of honey to improve binding.
