Butter Mixture
- 1 cup cowboy butter, softened, divided
Bread
- 1 Italian loaf, cut in half horizontally
Cheese
- 2 cups (226 g) mozzarella cheese, shredded, divided
- 1/2 cup (50 g) parmesan cheese, shredded, divided
Seasoning and Garnish
- salt, to taste
- parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
- Prepare Bread: Slice the Italian loaf in half horizontally to create two large halves.
- Apply Cowboy Butter: Spread the softened cowboy butter evenly over each cut side of the bread, using about ½ cup of butter per half to ensure rich flavor.
- Add Cheese: Evenly sprinkle one-half of the mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese over each buttered side of the bread. Season lightly with salt if desired.
- Bake: Place the prepared bread halves on the lined baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and starts to turn golden brown.
- Slice and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Slice the bread into 12 portions or your preferred serving size. Garnish with fresh parsley for a bright, fresh finish and serve warm.
Notes
- For an air fryer method, preheat the air fryer to 350°F, place the bread halves (cut to fit the basket) inside, and air fry for 4 minutes until cheese is melted and golden brown.
- Use a good quality cowboy butter for maximum flavor; alternatively, you can make your own with butter, garlic, herbs, and spices.
- You can substitute Italian loaf with any crusty bread such as French baguette or sourdough.
- For a spicier version, sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes over the cheese before baking.
- Allow garlic bread to cool slightly before slicing to keep toppings intact.
