French Toast Sticks
- 6 slices bread, cut into sticks
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Prepare the egg mixture: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until fully combined.
- Dip the bread sticks: Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, making sure to coat all sides well.
- Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and let it preheat for about 3 minutes.
- Arrange the sticks: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray. Place the coated bread sticks in a single layer inside the basket, making sure they don’t overlap for even cooking.
- Air fry the sticks: Cook the French toast sticks at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping them halfway through to ensure golden brown on all sides.
- Serve: Carefully remove the sticks from the air fryer and serve warm with maple syrup or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Use slightly stale bread for best results as it holds up better during dipping.
- Adjust cinnamon and sugar to taste for a more or less sweet flavor.
- If you don’t have an air fryer, these can be cooked in a skillet on the stovetop with butter over medium heat until golden on all sides.
- Spraying the air fryer basket prevents sticking and helps the sticks crisp up nicely.
